Join Delia Rosenboom on a year-long exploration of our miraculous design.  Blending embryological development, Raymond Dart’s work, the teachings of Don Burton, and her own combination of experience and knowledge as a senior Alexander Teacher and Trainer, Delia has created a new and unique way to understand and embody our innate design.

These sessions will involve a mix of embryological and anatomical stories, visualizations, practical work in stillness and in movement, and will relate to AT principles - and hands-on work where possible.

Block 1:   ‘Beginnings’ (20 Sept - 25 Oct 2022)

An overview of our developmental beginnings and their implications for applying AT to ourselves. This will include:

• An exploration of our 3 primitive cell layers and the crucial systems that they become.
• Finding a balance between ‘heart, head and guts’
• From 2D to 3D – the folding process and the energised growth of the spine
• Completion of our ‘up energy’ and whispered ahs!
• Bony segmentation and the birth of vertebrae
• Journey of the ribs

Block 2: ‘The Emergence of Movement’ (8 Nov – 13 Dec 2022)

This block will include:

• Finding our inner buoyancy – the positive fate of our intervertebral discs!
• Introducing the wriggle: Muscular Segmentation - left and right
• Connecting to our inner caterpillar: muscular segmentation continued – flexion and extension
• Utilizing whole body segmentation: twisting, rotating, spiralling
• Principles of untwisting á la Dart / FM Alexander.
• Introducing the ‘Functional Body Units and the C1 segment for harmonious functioning

Block 3: ‘Torso Spirals’ (10 Jan – 7 Feb 2023)

This block will include:

• ’A spirallic pathway’: further division of the flexor and extensor muscles
• Further pathways around the torso
• Spirallic ‘outgrowths’ into the limbs
• Energetic-Emotional manifestations in the ‘spirallic torso web’
• Suspension of our spirallic selves through our 5 senses.

Block 4: ‘Arm & Leg Spirals’  (21 Feb – 28 March 2023)

This block will include:

• Embryological development of our limbs: magic at our fingertips!
• Continuing limb development: connecting in versus releasing out!
• Arm spirals: the ‘Thumb spiral’
• More arm spirals: the ‘Pinkie spiral’
• Leg spirals: The ‘Big toe spiral’
• Leg spirals: The ‘Little toe spiral’

Block 5: ‘Throat, neck, voice & Breath’ (18 April – 23 May 2023)

This block will include:

• Embryological story of the taking a breath
• Our life-giving double chins! ‘Fishy gills’ and primitive throat development
• Head balance and suspension of the lungs, gut, throat and jaw (over 2 sessions)
• Whispered ahs/ sounding with optimal suspension
• Prevertebral support: finding ‘up’ through the front of the spine

Block 6: ‘Sensational Sensing & our Evolutionary Neurological Magic!’  (6 June – 18 July 2023)

This block will include:

• Skin – the outer layer of the brain!
• Trigeminal secrets and a free neck
• Medial Longitudinal bundles
• Vestibular apparatus and reality checking
• The potent power of listening
• Looking versus Seeing
• Sense-ational finale and optimal release.
